It is nearly upon us, everyone! Samhain approaches, are we ready? I’ve been ready since last Samhain, you know that. I also have to thank everyone who has purchased my book, Love & Light Blood & Bone, you guys are amazing. And if you’ve taken the time to write a review or even just give it a rating, I could just kiss you on the mouth. This community of witches is so special and I know I’ve said it before but I’m so grateful that I get to talk to you and communicate with you, either through emails, DMs or on the forums. I don’t live in a place that has a huge witchcraft community, but you witches are my coven.
Okay, everyone, Mercury goes retrograde officially tomorrow. I hope we are all ready for this one. It’ll be a doozy, I think. But as always, we can take some precautions to mitigate its general fuckery and help us to get through this time more smoothly. We are gonna be retrograde until October 2. So that’s a little over three weeks. Not too long, but still plenty of time to make a mess if we’re not proactive.
Welcome, lovely witches, to Taurus season. For the next few weeks, we can expect that stabilizing Taurus energy to put a sharp focus on our finances. We are probably going to feel the need to pull back on unnecessary spending, and this is probably a good time to sit down and write a budget. Especially coming right off tax season, if you’re in the States, this might be a good time to revisit your spending and saving habits, maybe go through your bank statements and figure out exactly how much money is going toward things that don’t seem like much but add up. Uber Eats, that one’s mine, I really gotta delete that app. It makes it too easy to just have lunch delivered to my workplace so I just end up working through lunch and paying a ton of delivery fees for the privilege.
Hello and happy March, my powerful witch friends. How are we enjoying this New moon energy? I am personally wiped out. I keep waiting for some physical alchemy to change within myself and I suddenly don’t feel completely overwhelmed by the moon cycles each and every time, but it’s been 43 years of this, so I guess this is just who I am. But that’s cool; I kind of love the connection I feel.
I hope everyone is coming off the full moon magic nicely, I hope the first full moon of the year treated you well. Especially you Aquarians, as we are moving right into Aquarius season. Mercury went retrograde a week ago today, and will be there until February 3rd, so I hope everyone is coping with that. We are also just about a week and a half away from Imbolc, which is February 2.
This is the final episode of 2021. I really can’t believe the year this has been. As I have been looking back through my journals, I am really just astonished at how differently this year has gone compared to what, I guess, I expected. But I always say, I am not a psychic, and I never know what the hell is going to happen next. I really don’t. I guess that’s part of the fun of life.
We are barreling toward the end of the calendar year, and it won’t be long before we start seeing ads for gym memberships and posts from folks who are excited about the New year, New me plans. I’m still enjoying this time of year; I always get a little bit down once the holidays are over because I feel like there’s kind of a dry spell between the New Year and Imbolc, but for now, I’m not going to think about that. I’m going to enjoy the next six weeks or so and just save those feelings for later.
We are well into November now, and the weather here is gorgeous. We have been taking advantage of these cooler temps to do a lot of baking, taking a little more time to make meals, especially on the weekends when we have extra time to get fancy. The days of BBQs and summer salads are behind us, and we are officially deep into stew season. I’m not an especially gifted cook, but I am a hell of a breadmaker, if I do say so myself, and I am always anxious to fire up the oven once the weather permits.
