The Middle-Aged WitchToday is Thursday, October 7. Yesterday was the New Moon, so we are currently waxing crescent. I hope everyone managed to set their intentions and cast their spells, but even if you didn’t, there’s still plenty of New Moon magic in the air for the next day or so, so don’t despair. There’s still time if you have some big spellwork you’re hoping to enact in October. No need to wait until next month.
Welcome to the podcast! Today is Thursday, September 30. The moon is waning crescent and we will see the New Moon on October 6, so there’s plenty of time to get those new moon manifestations in order. I am beyond excited for October. It is Libra season, which is my season, we have Halloween coming up, followed immediately by Samhain on November 1. We will be putting all the Halloween decorations up this weekend, and we will also be putting together our ancestor altar. That’s something we like to keep up for the whole month leading up to Samhain and for the few days afterward.
Today is Thursday, September 23. The moon is waning gibbous, and I hope everyone’s full moon intentions are coming along nicely. It is also the first day of Libra season, which will end on October 22. Libra is ruled by air, so it’s always a good time for partnerships, communication, and justice. Libra is an initiator; so in general, this is a great time for starting something new, like a new creative project, or a new job opportunity, or a new relationship. EXCEPT that Mercury goes retrograde on Monday the 27th.
Today is Thursday, September 16, the moon is waxing gibbous, and at least here in Southern California, the weather is cooling ever so slightly. And, in about a week, we will be celebrating the Autumn Equinox here in the northern hemisphere. Now, because the mission statement of this podcast is practical witchcraft for everyday life, I thought we could talk a little bit about this festival and what it can mean in our lives as modern witches.
Today is Thursday, September 9. The moon is waxing crescent, and the next full moon will be on Monday, September 20. That’ll be the Harvest Moon, here in time to usher in the Autumn Equinox on the 22nd. So we’ve got a couple weeks to put together a really wonderful ritual to express gratitude for what we’ve harvested this year.
Today is Thursday, September 2. The moon is waning crescent in Cancer. Monday, the 6th will be the New Moon, so it’s time to maybe start thinking about the intentions we want to set at this time. I know that a lot of witches like to use the New Moon to set intentions for things they want to release, or things they want to banish, and I do that myself from time to time.
Today is Thursday, August 26. The Moon is waning gibbous in Aries. We are cruising right through the month of August and heading for September and Taurus season. And although I do love autumn, I am really trying not to wish this month away. Part of my purpose for this podcast was to do some of my own shadow work, and one of my biggest faults, well, I say faults, but I don’t want to use negative language. One of the things I’m trying to do more of is to enjoy the moment, whatever that moment may be, whatever it may bring.
Today is Thursday, August 19. The moon is waxing gibbous in Capricorn, and we will see the full moon on the 22nd. Just a few more days to get those manifestations in order, if you’re a witch who really pays attention to the moon phases when you’re making magical plans. Not every witch does, you know. That’s ok. We all follow a different path, and every path is valid. That’s why witchcraft is the coolest.
Today is Thursday, August 12. The moon is waxing gibbous in Sagittarius, the weather is warm, the sky is clear, Summer is slowing down but there’s still plenty of warm weather left. Depending on where you live, school has started or is just about to start. I have three kids, two girls, aged 19 and 17, and a boy, aged 15. My oldest starts her sophomore year of college, my younger daughter starts her senior year, and my son starts his sophomore year of high school. My husband and I also have full time jobs and a very energetic bastard of a yellow lab, so yeah. It’s a busy time in the Middle-aged witch household. But let’s get on with it.
